I want to help

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility,

Wednesday 1st – Saturday 4th: This week we pray for our project, and partners New Life Action Foundation Trust, in Kabompo District, North West Zambia

On Wednesday give thanks for Steven and the team in Zambia. Pray they will be blessed in their work providing education, feeding and medical care to extremely vulnerable children in remote rural villages.

On Thursday give thanks for the borehole which means the community has easy access to clean water. Pray children and their families continue to have improved health and successful agricultural programmes.

On Friday pray for children denied education through poverty, sickness, family situation or disability. Give thanks for sponsorship which enables children to attend school, pray for greater understanding of the value of education, and pray this encourages regular school attendance.

On Saturday pray for a season of good health for the children living in this area who are highly vulnerable to acute and long-term diseases, and who have limited access to healthcare.

Sunday 5th – Saturday 11th: This week we pray for our partners Emmanuel Ministries in Kolkata, and their work at Calcutta Emmanuel School (CES) and the Pavement Club.

On Sunday give thanks for Emmanuel Ministries and the teams working in partnership with Global Care to provide formal and informal education to vulnerable children living in the slums of Kolkata.

On Monday pray for Saswati, the senior school teacher at CES, who suffered a stroke in January. Pray for her full recovery, and for the school community who miss her cheerful smile and enthusiasm.

On Tuesday pray for the health and well-being of all the children. Pray for children affected by viral fever, malaria and dengue fever. Pray for quick recoveries and minimal school absenteeism from illness.

On Wednesday pray for *Ruby a student at CES whose family live in extreme poverty and hardship. Pray she will be able to achieve her dream of going to University and gaining a skilled job.

On Thursday give thanks for the Pavement Club team providing informal education and homework support for slum children. Pray for their community awareness programmes helping families find new ways to tackle their many problems.

On Friday pray for the street children who attend the Pavement Club. Give thanks that these children have opportunity to play, learn, and eat healthy meals in a safe, caring environment.

On Saturday pray for *Neil, who suffered abuse at home, and for *Prab, injured while begging on the streets. Pray the love and support of Pavement Club empowers these children for the future.

Sunday 12th – Saturday 18th: This week we reflect on Remembrance Sunday. We pray for staff in our UK office, and for our project in Soroti as CEO John White travels to Uganda with Patron Fiona Castle, and Donor Development Officer, Ella-Sophia Peaple.

On Remembrance Sunday we remember those who have died in armed conflict around the world, and pray for international efforts to bring peace in many troubled lands.

On Monday pray for UK and local staff as changes are made to the Operations team. Pray we find the right person for the role of Senior Operations Officer supporting Paul Rowell, Head of Operations, during a transitional stage.

On Tuesday pray for good health for Adisa and Sara from our Coventry office, both starting maternity leave this Autumn. Pray for the UK team as they recruit staff to provide maternity cover.

On Wednesday pray for staff and volunteers travelling to Uganda next summer. Pray that plans will be clarified during the visit this week. Pray the 2018 team will effectively meet the aims of the trip.

On Thursday pray for safety and good health throughout the visit to Uganda this week. Pray for John travelling and arriving in Entebbe today. Pray for encouragement and blessing as he meets the local team and reviews progress since his last visit.

On Friday pray for Fiona and Ella-Sophia who arrive in Entebbe today. This is Ella-Sophia’s first trip to Soroti, pray she quickly acclimatizes to the culture and climate. Pray for clarity as she meets the local team to plan the 2018 trip.

On Saturday as the team drive to Soroti, pray for managers David and Fred, and for planned discussions with John and Ella-Sophia about potential new initiatives. Pray for Fiona as she visits the Ark Disability Day Centre.

Sunday 19th –Saturday 25th: This week we continue to pray for projects in Uganda, and also for our work in the Patripul slum of Mumbai. We remember World Toilet Day on 19th.

On Sunday, World Toilet Day, pray for the estimated 2.4 billion people without adequate sanitation. Pray for increased awareness of the importance of toilets and access to clean water in supporting better nutrition and improved health.

On Monday give thanks for the wide-ranging programmes in Soroti, including learning and teaching the techniques of ‘Farming God’s Way’, and supporting a Disability Action Group in nearby Attira.

On Tuesday give thanks for new partnerships between the Ark and the local Physiotherapy department. Pray for wisdom and compassion as the local team support children with disabilities and their families. Pray for the UK team as they begin their long journey home.

On Wednesday pray for the team providing informal education to Dalit children at the two Global Care Centres in Patripul. Pray for their safety and health, pray they will be blessed in this challenging environment.

On Thursday pray for an end to the abuse and discrimination suffered by Dalit children attending government schools. Pray for our local staff in their work to ensure Dalit children are treated with respect and justice in schools.

On Friday pray for families whose lives of poverty and exploitation leave them without hope for the future. Pray more children will receive education and be spared a life of begging, or dangerous and dirty manual work.

On Saturday, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, pray for Dalits living in Patripul, considered by some to be undeserving of basic rights. Pray for an end to violence and injustice against women and girls in this community.

On Sunday 26th – Thursday 30th: This week we pray for our Christmas Appeal for a new project in Sudan, and also for our project in Nairobi, Kenya, which is experiencing unrest following the presidential election in August.

On Sunday pray for a generous response to this year’s Christmas Appeal. Pray the project, a teacher-training programme in

war-torn South Sudan, enables improved quality of education for vulnerable children, and provides a viable source of employment to young-people.

On Monday pray for our new partners from Wau Diocese and St John’s College of Theology and Development. Pray God’s blessing on the new relationships with Global Care. Pray for discernment as the local team recruit teachers to study for the qualification.

On Tuesday, Giving Tuesday, pray donors will be motivated to give to our Christmas Appeal this week. From today, any gifts to our South Sudan appeal via the Big Give website will be matched, £1 for £1, up to a total of £4000 as part of the Big Give Christmas Challenge**

On Wednesday pray for protection for children, families and staff at our project in Kibera slum in Nairobi. Local demonstrations have caused disruption to education and employment, pray for a peaceful end to the political instability.

On Thursday pray for vulnerable parents who lost their jobs through the economic impact of the annulled election result. Pray for the health of our children as medical services are limited due to extended strikes by hospital staff.
