Our charity shops do a fantastic job of raising funds for our work with vulnerable children overseas – and telling people here in the UK about what we do.
They also help us all reduce our carbon footprint, by re-using and recycling items which may otherwise end up in landfill.
Our two charity shops, in Coventry and Bulkington, are fully open and looking for donations. Together, they provide crucial income for our international work. Everything they deliver is down to generous donors, careful managers and hard-working volunteer teams who keep the work going. If you have ever supported our charity shops in any way – thank you so much!

Volunteer in our charity shops
If you can spare a few hours each week to help us in our shops, there’s so much to be done. Sorting donations, talking to customers, arranging displays… You’ll be part of a friendly team. And, if you want to develop your CV, we can offer you valuable training and experience.
You’ll be helping us – and our volunteers say that working in the shops has helped them too.
Julie says: “Volunteering at the charity shop has really given me my confidence back, as well as giving me some really good work experience and improving my retail skills. I used to work in retail many years ago so it was all there, it was just a matter of believing in myself again.”
Andy says: “If I wasn’t volunteering in the charity shop, I would be sitting at home watching TV or playing my Xbox. Coming here keeps me in a proper routine of getting up and getting ready for work, which will be really useful if I do find paid work. Sometimes people ask why I am happy to do it all for nothing, but it’s not for nothing is it? We have posters all round the shop about the work of Global Care and it’s amazing how many children in so many different countries are benefitting from what we do in a little charity shop in Coventry.”
Donations
We always welcome donations of:
- good quality clothing
- shoes and accessories
- household and electrical items
- bric-a-brac
- games & toys
- books, CDs and DVDs
Donations can be dropped off at any of our shops. If you can take a moment to complete a gift aid form, we can claim tax back on the value of each item we sell – giving us an extra 25p from the government for every pound we sell items for. Thank you!
