I want to help

‘He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;

He seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honour’.

Wednesday 1st – Saturday 4th: This week we pray for the work of our partners Pastor Mishack and his wife Lydia, and the team at our project in Chipinge, Zimbabwe.

On Wednesday give thanks and pray for the team at Houtberg Childcare Centre. Pray for blessing and encouragement for Pastor Mishack and Lydia and their family.

On Thursday pray that in the environment of love and care at Houtberg Childcare Centre, vulnerable children are equipped with skills, strength and hope for their futures.

On Friday pray for a successful year for the chicken farm which provides food for the children and a source of income. Pray the initiative recovers quickly from the impact of bird flu affecting chickens across the region.

On Saturday pray this year the vegetable garden and new banana plantation will produce a good harvest for food and fruit and vegetables to sell at market.

Sunday 5th – Saturday 11th: This week we remember the ‘International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples’ on 9th August and pray for our projects supporting minority groups.

On Sunday pray for an end to discrimination against millions of indigenous peoples. Pray for the many indigenous communities who are disadvantaged and vulnerable, and amongst the poorest people worldwide.

On Monday pray for our project with the Karenni people in Myanmar. Pray for DS who works with local communities to support improvements in nutrition, welfare, healthcare and education.

On Tuesday pray for Dalit children at the Global Care Centre in Mumbai who are subject to discrimination and abuse. Pray they thrive with acceptance and love and learn to have self-respect and dignity.

On Wednesday pray for children and students from minority Christian tribes/states at Grace Children’s Home in Yangon, Myanmar. Pray for an end to their persecution, underinvestment and neglect.

On Thursday pray for minority Sri Lankan Tamils. Pray for Global Care local staff at Morning Star Care Centre providing basic educational support and psychological, medical and social care to these vulnerable children and families.

On Friday pray for the Roma community in Albania living without basic services like water, sanitation and electricity. Pray for the Global Care Albania team who provide practical support for Roma families through a variety of initiatives.

On Saturday pray that governments, communities, churches and families work together to protect and promote the rights of indigenous peoples. Pray for increased understanding of the value and importance of their unique social, cultural, economic and political characteristics.

Sunday 12th – Saturday 18th: This week we pray for our work, and partners Haven Ministries, providing residential care at Haven Children’s Centre, Pattaya, Thailand.

On Sunday pray for blessing and good health for staff and children at the centre. Give thanks for all the abandoned and orphaned children who have returned to their extended families through the work of the centre.

On Monday pray for all the children able to return to family in March. Pray for the 20 children left at the centre, that they feel valued and important through the love and care of the local team.

On Tuesday pray for therapy initiatives designed to help the children learn responsibility, patience, and practical skills. Pray children gain self-sufficiency capability they can use to help support their families when they return home.

On Wednesday pray for those children who had unsuccessful home visits in March. Pray the team will find family members who can take care of the children, so they can be returned to their local community.

On Thursday give thanks for the new centre manager appointed earlier this year. Pray the children quickly accept changes and the manager provides stability and quality leadership.

On Friday pray for older children who started school late. Pray they quickly learn and catch up with their peers. Pray they are not discouraged and instead are motivated to work hard as they see the advantages of education.

On Saturday give thanks for local staff who work with families, authorities and communities to enable children to return to relatives. Pray that parents, grandparents, friends and extended families will be facilitated to care for these children.

Sunday 19th– Saturday 25th: This week we pray for the UK office staff and volunteer team travelling to Uganda for 35th Anniversary Celebrations, and for our Uganda projects.

On Sunday give thanks for Ron Newby’s visit to Uganda in 1983 which led to 35 years working with vulnerable children. Pray for Global Care local and UK staff, past and present, committed to alleviating extreme poverty and suffering.

On Monday pray for the team travelling to Uganda today. Pray for safe travel and good health throughout their trip. Pray for excellent relationships within the UK team and together with the Ugandan team.

On Tuesday as the team travel to Soroti in Northern Uganda, pray for roads to be passable without complication despite ongoing roadworks and damage from flooding in July. Pray this visit encourages and blesses each person.

On Wednesday pray for the training, planning and preparations taking place today at our Soroti Centre. Pray for clarity and agreement in discussions. Pray for the small team visiting families of children attending The Ark.

On Thursday pray for local staff and children travelling from Kampala and Rukungiri to join the celebrations in Soroti. Pray for safety and good health. Pray the children will enjoy meeting each other and the UK team.

On Friday pray for the 35th Anniversary Celebrations taking place this afternoon. Give thanks for the invited dignitaries and guests, children, staff and volunteers. Celebrate the work of Global Care, standing alongside vulnerable children until they learned to stand alone.

On Saturday pray for the UK team as they travel to hold a children’s camp at the School in Atiira. Pray the team are encouraged and their camp runs smoothly. Pray children will have a great time and are blessed by the visitors.

Sunday 26th– Friday 31st: This week we continue to pray for the team visiting Uganda.

On Sunday give thanks for churches both here in the UK, and in Uganda, supporting projects and initiatives in Uganda. Pray the UK team and the churches they visit will be blessed as they worship together today.

On Monday pray for the UK team as they travel to the Ron Newby Memorial School in Angorum to hold another camp. Pray the team are encouraged and their camp runs smoothly. Pray for fun and blessing for the children.

On Tuesday as the team begin their journey home, pray they will be inspired and challenged by the trip. As they travel to Kampala, pray God’s blessing and vision for conversations and reactions to all they have seen and done.

On Wednesday pray the team are able to relax and unwind on their rest day before the flight home tomorrow. Pray volunteers travelling to local projects are inspired to share the work of Global Care with family, friends and acquaintances.

On Thursday pray this last day in Uganda provides positive reflection and pray the team can rest on the night flight home. Pray they will be inspired by the work of Ugandan staff, giving children new hope for their futures.

On Friday pray for the staff at our projects in Soroti, Kampala and Rukungiri. Pray that throughout their work this week they will be encouraged and stimulated by the celebrations and appreciate the value of their work and commitment.
