I want to help

Monday 1st – Saturday 6th: This week we pray for our work in Uganda and for interim Head of Operations, Jonathan, who is visiting the projects. We also remember World Teachers’ Day on 5th.

On Monday Pray for encouragement and blessing for the local team at Soroti as they meet Jonathan today. Pray for wisdom and vision for joint Managers Fred and David as they review the project and plan for the future.

On Tuesday give thanks for children and staff at The Ark Disability Day Centre and for whole communities positively impacted through our work with children with disability. Pray for understanding and insight as this work is developed.

On Wednesday pray for the sponsorship programme and give thanks for the hundreds of changed lives and children given hope through sponsorship in Soroti. Pray for new sponsors to support vulnerable children living in extreme poverty and unable to access education.

On Thursday give thanks for local individuals and businesses providing vocational training for older children. Pray young people gain skills that enable them to live independently and support their families.

On Friday pray for safe travel and good health throughout Jonathan’s trip and specifically for the long drive back to Kampala today.

On Saturday we remember World Teachers’ Day which recognises education as a key fundamental right. Pray for enough trained and qualified teachers to enable inclusive and equitable access to education for all children.

Sunday 7th – Saturday 13th: We continue to pray for our projects in Uganda.

On Sunday give thanks for Global Care partner schools in all our Uganda projects. As Jonathan travels to Rukungiri, pray for the expansion of our work with Kahororo Primary School in South-western Uganda.

On Monday pray for Moses and Penelop, the Rukungiri team, pray for wisdom and insight as they meet Jonathan and pray they will be blessed and encouraged by his visit.

On Tuesday pray for the Rukungiri sponsorship programme and for families struggling to survive in this rural community. Pray for new sponsors and partners to enable more children, families and communities to benefit from Global Care support.

On Wednesday give thanks for generous donations to our 35th Anniversary Appeal and pray for Moses and Penelop as work begins to develop facilities enabling children with disability to access education in Rukungiri. Pray for Jonathan travelling back to Kampala.

On Thursday pray for the Kampala team. Pray for their work with partner schools, and other schools which sponsored children attend. Pray for the many children in Kampala affected by HIV/AIDS.

On Friday pray for Kampala supporters and partners. Pray for the hostel in Mukono which generates income supporting child sponsorship. Pray for new supporters to enable more children to access education, social support and welfare care.

On Saturday pray for Jonathan as he begins his journey back to the UK. Pray for clarity and wisdom as he discusses his visit with the UK Management team.

Sunday 14th – Saturday 20th: This week we remember the International Day of Rural Women on 15th October and we pray for supporter Rob Halligan and patron Fiona Castle as they share their presentation ‘Around the World in 80 Minutes’.

On Sunday pray for rural families suffering from food shortages. Pray for sustainable agricultural initiatives at Houtberg Children’s Centre, Zimbabwe. Pray for fruitful harvests providing enough food for the Centre, and surplus to sell.

On Monday pray for increased availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. Give thanks for our well in Zambia, which has not only reduced the workload of women and children, but also improved health and increased school attendance.

On Tuesday pray for rural women working to improve agricultural systems and food security. Pray for an end to restricted access to fundamental human rights for rural women, including housing, health, and education.

On Wednesday pray gender equality initiatives will empower women and girls. Pray for our partners in Ethiopia working to uphold the rights of women in their community, and for self-help groups in Garissa, Kenya, supporting rural women with income generation projects.

On Thursday give thanks for Rob and Fiona and pray for their presentation in Barnsley tonight. Pray people attending will be both entertained and inspired by their music and stories about children they met on trips with Global Care.

On Friday pray for safe travel, encouragement and energy for Rob and Fiona as they travel to Durham. Pray their presentation tonight will interest and challenge people as they celebrate the impact of our work with vulnerable children.

On Saturday pray for our 35th Anniversary Project to support access to education for children with disability in rural South West Uganda. Pray for mothers of these children who often single-handedly provide and care for their families.

Sunday 21st – Saturday 27th: This week we pray for our partners and projects in rural villages in Ethiopia.

On Sunday give thanks for the Addis Kidan Baptist Church team providing pre-schooling for vulnerable children. Pray for wisdom as they seek to provide spiritual and educational input to poor rural and semi-rural communities.

On Monday pray communities increase their understanding of the long-term benefits of education for their children. Pray for children denied access to education through illness, malnutrition, or because parents want them to work at home.

On Tuesday pray for the 178 children who passed exams in June enabling them to start formal government education this term. Pray all children at the pre-schools gain education, skills and confidence to equip them for government schools.

On Wednesday pray for the ‘self-help’ groups for pre-school parents. Pray for the team helping parents take part in micro-finance schemes enabling them to save money and develop income-generating projects.

On Thursday pray for workshops being held with families, communities and local organisations to encourage development of initiatives to enable the village pre-schools to become self-supporting.

On Friday pray for children like brothers *Natnael and *Dawit who attend the pre-school in their village and help their parents by fetching water after school. Give thanks for parents who encourage their children to go to school.

On Saturday pray for agricultural initiatives helping families grow improved and more varied crops, and for improved health and hygiene understanding through health education and building pit latrines.

Sunday 28th– Wednesday 31st: This week we pray for our work in Myanmar with the Karenni people, and for a 35th Anniversary reception taking place on 31st.

On Sunday give thanks and pray for our partner DS, coordinating Global Care support for education initiatives in Karenni state and working to help improve nutrition, welfare and healthcare. Pray for vision for the work, and for his safety.

On Monday pray for young people attending the high school supported by Global Care. Pray they continue to benefit educationally, socially and spiritually. Pray for the teachers we support at village primary schools

On Tuesday pray that families continue to support students in their studies, even though it reduces family income. Pray for students who need extra food, and those who stay in boarding houses near the school.

On Wednesday pray for the Bishop of Coventry who is hosting a reception for Global Care’s 35th Anniversary for Church leaders from Coventry. Pray the leaders are inspired and encouraged by our work with vulnerable children and communities.
