Saturday 1st – Saturday 8th: This week we pray for our Thanksgiving Service, alongside United Nations remembrance days we pray for people with disability and volunteers, and we pray for John White and a team of volunteers visiting Romania.
On Saturday give thanks for Global Care’s 35 years working with extremely poor and vulnerable children across the world. Pray for everyone attending our Thanksgiving Service and workshops today, pray with us as we commit the future into God’s hands.
On Sunday give thanks for Global Care’s work with children with physical, sensory and learning disabilities. Pray for worldwide justice and equality for children with disability and for increased availability of inclusive education.
On Monday, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, pray governments and organisations throughout the world are motivated and enabled to implement measures to improve the life of disabled persons.
On Tuesday continue to pray for our Christmas Appeal supporting access to education for children with disabilities in rural Southern Uganda. Pray for a generous response to the Big Give Christmas Challenge which is still ‘live’ and runs until noon today.
On Wednesday, International Volunteer Day, give thanks for Global Care volunteers who give their time, energy and expertise to support the work of Global Care. Pray for blessing as they support our work to improve the lives of vulnerable children around the world.
On Thursday give thanks for volunteers working in our charity shops, pray that three new volunteer teams will be quickly recruited for our shops in Radford, Bulkington and Kenilworth. Give thanks for the strong commitment of shop managers Jill, Juliet and Peter**.
On Friday pray for the team travelling to Romania to close our Romanian project. Pray for safe travel and good health throughout their trip. Pray for wisdom and compassion in all their conversations.
On Saturday pray for joy and celebration as the team meet staff and former children. Give thanks for all the supporters of our work in Romania, who enabled incredible transformation in children’s lives.
Sunday 9th – Saturday 15th: This week we continue to pray for the Romanian trip, give thanks for the work of Global Care in 2018, and pray for our UK work and staff.
On Sunday pray for the Thanksgiving Service taking place in Romania. Pray for ongoing healing and release for the young adults attending, as they remember their time at the project.
On Monday as the team fly home, give thanks for the staff who supported children previously condemned to isolation and neglect in institutions. Thank God for their work setting children free to grow into successful fulfilled adults.
On Tuesday pray for staff in our Coventry office readjusting after several team changes during the last few months. Pray for efficiency and effectiveness in new teams and roles.
On Wednesday pray for the team leading applications for funding. Pray they develop efficient procedures in this increasingly competitive environment. Pray their efforts will be successful in 2019.
On Thursday pray for wisdom and insight for the Management Team as they plan the year’s management visits to international partners. The team spend several weeks overseas each year, give thanks and pray for their families.
On Friday give thanks for our Trustees, all volunteers. Pray for vision and insight as Trustees and staff consider potential new international partnerships and programmes for the coming year.
On Saturday give thanks for the generous response to special appeals this year and pray for God’s wisdom as we respond to extra needs in our overseas projects in 2019.
Sunday 16th – Saturday 22nd: As Christmas approaches, we remember the desperate circumstances of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and pray for children born into poverty, forced to flee in the night or living in violent communities.
On Sunday pray for our project training teachers in South Sudan. Give thanks for this opportunity to provide a viable alternative source of employment to young people who might otherwise be drawn to join the militia.
On Monday pray for Syrian refugees who fled from desperate situations and continue to watch the devastation of their home country. Pray for children at our Shack School in Lebanon. Pray for the light of Christ to shine in their darkness.
On Tuesday pray for our partners in Mumbai, India, and for the children and families they support who fled rural poverty or ‘modern slavery’ and continue to experience discrimination and crushing poverty.
On Wednesday pray for our work in Guatemala supporting children who live on the streets, or at risk of living on the streets. Give thanks and pray for the mentoring service which helps children make wise choices.
On Thursday pray for healing for women and children at Heavena Transitional Home in Sri Lanka, a refuge for women who have suffered domestic violence. Pray for self-sufficient, safe, futures.
On Friday pray for our partners in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Thailand, North Africa and Zimbabwe, caring for abandoned and unwanted children whose families can no longer care for them.
On Saturday pray for local partners arranging children’s Christmas parties and celebrations. Pray for children in all our projects, who anticipate these gatherings and the break from routine with great excitement.
Sunday 23rd – Saturday 29th: This week we celebrate Christmas and commit various aspects of Global Care’s work into God’s care.
On Sunday give thanks for Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and pray in 2019 we see miracles of increasing peace and reduced global conflict. Pray for individuals in need of Jesus’ peace this Christmas.
On CHRISTMAS EVE give thanks for our humble Saviour Jesus and pray that He forever challenges us through His life choices, living alongside the poor, the sick and the despised.
On CHRISTMAS DAY give thanks for Jesus Christ who was born and died in poverty and humiliation. Praise our Mighty God that he rose from the dead and celebrate His gift of eternal life for the lost.
On BOXING DAY pray for people for whom Christmas is challenging and stressful. Pray for those unable to celebrate, or with no means to celebrate. Pray that Jesus the Wonderful Counsellor brings hope and light into their lives.
On Thursday thank our Everlasting Father for the “good news” of Jesus. Pray God makes Global Care ‘good news’, practically and spiritually, to many more people in the year ahead.
On Friday pray for our international staff and partners, for inspiration and encouragement, and that they would continually seek God’s guidance, as individuals and professionals. Pray for health and strength for their families.
On Saturday pray for children in all our projects without parents or extended family to care for them. Pray they receive love and acceptance through local teams, and know they belong to the Global Care family and the family of Christ.
Sunday 30th December – Saturday 5th January 2019: This week we celebrate the New Year and continue to pray for different aspects of Global Care’s work.
On Sunday give thanks for 35th Anniversary celebrations and initiatives, for partner churches, schools, individuals and families. Pray for those newly aware of Global Care and pray hearts will be stirred to support our work in the coming year.
On New Year’s Eve pray for our children worldwide. Pray God’s blessing on each of them, for peace and hope, strength and sustenance in Him in 2019.
On New Year’s Day thank God for this New Year, bringing new opportunities and challenges. Pray that God will give us a clear vision, wisdom, compassion and clarity of action.
On Wednesday pray for our UK staff, for renewed inspiration and enthusiasm as they return to work after the holidays. Pray for God’s guidance as we work for justice and equality for vulnerable children.
On Thursday pray for wisdom as we seek the best way forward for profile raising, fundraising, communication and donor development activities in the coming year.
On Friday pray for work on our budgets for the next financial year (April – March). Give thanks for God’s provision over 35 years and pray for wisdom as we plan for 2019-2020.
On Saturday pray that this year more children will be enabled to receive safety, healing, peace hope and education. Pray more families can be lifted out of total poverty.
Sunday 6th – Saturday 12th January: This week, we give thanks for God’s blessing on our work, and pray for the year ahead and pray for our project in North Africa.
On Sunday thank God for all our supporters and pray His blessing for their faithful generosity, whether of time, money or skill. Pray for successful fundraising initiatives this year.
On Monday give thanks for our Patrons, faithfully giving time and energy to support and promote the work of Global Care. Pray we successfully identify more people capable of filling this role.
On Tuesday pray for local partners risking their own safety to support vulnerable children and families. Thank God for partners working to ensure children receive much needed support from outside agencies.
On Wednesday pray for families and whole communities, that they will learn to value and love children without discrimination, and pray for an end to worldwide laws denying rights to illegitimate children.
On Thursday pray for our North African partners and for encouragement and protection for the children they support, who face social prejudice, personal loss and abandonment by families shamed by their illegitimacy.
On Friday give thanks for the progress children in this project are making in local schools, despite the many challenges they must overcome.
On Saturday pray for an end to children being punished for the manner of their conception or birth. Pray this year international agencies make huge progress in enabling all children to access quality education without prejudice.
Sunday 13th – Saturday 19th: This week we pray for our work in Wau province, South Sudan. We pray for our partners Community Concern and their work in Sri Lanka as CEO John White travels to visit the project.
On Sunday give thanks for students enrolled on the Primary School Teaching Diploma in Wau. Pray for motivation and commitment to the course for all the students and for improved attendance this year.
On Monday give thanks for those students who passed exams and successfully completed the first year of their training. Pray that enhanced quality of teaching is reflected in improvements in children’s work.
On Tuesday pray for children throughout Wau who have limited access to education and high drop-out rates. Pray the whole community benefits from access to quality education, and children’s future employment prospects improve.
On Wednesday give thanks for the Community Concern team, pray for encouragement, wisdom and vision as they work with local communities living near Dehiwela beach, a slum area in Colombo.
On Thursday give thanks for the Morning Star Care Centre providing education and welfare for extremely vulnerable children. Pray the love and care at the Centre continues to equip children with hope for the future.
On Friday pray for protection for the local team, particularly during home visits and for the Field Officer who works with the local community to identify children who have dropped out of school.
On Saturday pray for John as he travels to Sri Lanka. Pray for good health and safe travel and pray for a productive management visit.
Sunday 20th – Saturday 26th: This week we continue to pray for the work of Community Concern and for Heavena and Kadella, our other projects in Sri Lanka. We pray for our work in Mumbai and Pune as John travels to India.
On Sunday pray for safety, health, welfare and access to education for children throughout Sri Lanka who are at risk of physical and emotional abuse, or both directly and indirectly affected by alcohol and drug abuse.
On Monday pray for solutions to high rates of unemployment and job insecurity for families living in the Dehiwela area. Pray for protection for children living in resultant stressful and volatile family environments.
On Tuesday pray for women and children at Heavena Transitional Centre recovering from the trauma of abuse. Pray for the network of women who support each other as they learn to be self-sufficient and independent.
On Wednesday pray for the team at Kadella working with children and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Give thanks for improved access to treatment for HIV and pray for good health for the children and their carers.
On Thursday pray for our partner Simon and the team working with Dalits in Mumbai and Pune. Pray for safety and wisdom during John’s visit and pray for blessing and encouragement for the local team.
On Friday pray for Dalit children and families who suffer unbelievable discrimination and hardship, pray for an end to forced labour and abuse. Pray for enforcement of laws prohibiting discrimination on the grounds of caste.
On Saturday pray for children attending Global Care Centres. Pray children will learn to accept our partners’ love and kindness, receive God’s healing, and find self-worth and hope. Pray for John as he travels home.
Sunday 27th – Thursday 31st: This week we pray for our work at Chipinge, Zimbabwe.
On Sunday give thanks for the team at The Houtberg Childcare Centre. Pray for God’s blessing, and His wisdom and strength in their work supporting and caring for orphaned and abandoned children.
On Monday pray that within the loving family environment, children are emotionally healed and can look to the future with hope and positive expectations.
On Tuesday pray productive harvests and successful animal farming initiatives ensure self-sufficiency and generate income. Pray children are equipped with the agricultural skills needed to survive in this rural economy.
On Wednesday give thanks that the children can attend local schools and receive education – which was previously out of their reach. Pray the children receive the skills to live as independent adults.
On Thursday give thanks for supporters who enabled improvements to be made to living conditions and self-sufficiency initiatives. Pray for wisdom for UK staff as they seek God’s guidance for our work in Zimbabwe.
