I want to help

“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;

Thursday 1st – Saturday 10th: This week we pray for our projects in Uganda, and for a team of specialist teachers visiting Soroti in Northern Uganda to provide support and training for staff and volunteers from all our Ugandan projects working with children with disabilities.

On Thursday give thanks for our local teams in Rukungiri, Soroti, Mukono and Kampala. Pray for blessing and good health for them and their families. Pray for encouragement and inspiration this week for staff working with children with disability.

On Friday pray for our disability project in Rukungiri. Give thanks for children with mobility difficulties enabled to go to school. Pray the local team find solutions to overcome obstacles to other children attending school.

On Saturday pray for the UK team leaving for Uganda today. Pray for safe travel and good health throughout their trip.

On Sunday as the team travel from Kampala to Soroti, pray they quickly adapt to the Ugandan environment and culture. Pray this trip will be a blessing and encouragement to them as well as Ugandan teams.

On Monday as the local and UK teams meet each other and start to work together, pray for the UK teachers as they adapt their materials to local needs and learn to deliver training through an interpreter.

On Tuesday continue to pray for the UK team. Pray they sleep well this week and are refreshed and rested today as they begin a full day of training.

On Wednesday give thanks for children with disability and their families taking part in Disability Support Groups in rural Soroti. Pray for volunteers at the attached Playscheme, pray the training equips them for their roles and renews their enthusiasm.

On Thursday pray for the Ark, our disability day care centre in Soroti. As the UK team work directly with the Ark children and staff today, pray for a fun day of education and learning.

On Friday pray for wisdom as the team distribute equipment at the Playscheme in Abeko. Pray for the disadvantaged children at the Playscheme and pray they will be blessed by their visitors.

On Saturday give thanks for the UK teachers, who have chosen to spend holiday time sharing their knowledge and experience in Uganda. Pray that today they can relax as they visit a tourist attraction on their way back to Kampala.

Sunday 11th – Saturday 17th: This week we continue to pray for the UK team as they arrive home and remember the ‘International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples’ on 9th August, praying for our work supporting minority groups.

On Sunday pray for the UK team as they reflect on their trip. Pray for a good journey home and pray for discernment as they think about how to share their experiences with colleagues, family and friends.

On Monday pray for an end to discrimination against millions of indigenous peoples. Pray for the many indigenous communities who are disadvantaged and vulnerable and amongst the poorest people worldwide.

On Tuesday pray for Dalit children in India who are subject to discrimination and abuse. Pray children at Global Care Centres in Mumbai thrive with acceptance and love and learn to have self-respect and dignity.

On Wednesday pray for children from minority states in Myanmar. Pray for Grace Children’s Home in Yangon and for our project with the Karenni people. Pray for an end to underinvestment and neglect, pray for health and safety for local staff.

On Thursday pray for minority Sri Lankan Tamils. Pray for Global Care local staff at Morning Star Care Centre providing basic educational support and psychological, medical and social care to these vulnerable children and families.

On Friday pray for the Roma community in Albania living without basic services like water, sanitation and electricity. Pray for the Global Care Albania team who provide practical support for Roma families through a variety of initiatives.

On Saturday pray that governments, communities, churches and families work together to protect and promote the rights of indigenous peoples. Pray for increased understanding of the value and importance of their unique characteristics.

Sunday 18th – Saturday 24th: This week we pray for our partners at New Day Centre in Albania and their projects with disadvantaged families in Bathore, a suburb of the capital Tirana. We pray for a Global Care exhibition at ONE Event, a Christian festival in Lincoln.

On Sunday give thanks for the faithful service of Evis, the project director, and the team at New Day Centre. Pray they continue to see positive changes for the disadvantaged families they support.

On Monday pray for children from extremely poor families attending Kindergarten at the centre, including children with autism who can access inclusive education and therapy at the centre. Pray children progress to local primary schools.

On Tuesday pray for children attending the Play and Learn Club and for young people attending the Youth Group. Pray as children develop to adulthood they gain skills and education to equip them to break the poverty cycle for their families.

On Wednesday pray for empowerment for the women’s group. Pray the local team help women learn ways to deal with everyday family and social problems and how to support each other in their struggling community.

On Thursday pray for children receiving Physiotherapy at the centre. Pray they are enabled to achieve a measure of independence and supported to access formal education.

On Friday pray for staff and volunteers supporting Global Care’s exhibition at ONE Event, a Christian Family Festival. Pray they will be blessed and encouraged as they promote the work of Global Care.

On Saturday pray for a great response to the publicity at ONE Event, which continues until Tuesday. Pray festival attenders will catch the vision of Global Care and pray for an increase in partners and supporters.

Sunday 25th – Saturday 31st: This week we pray for our partners and their work at Spurgeons Academy in Kibera slum outside Nairobi, Kenya.

On Sunday give thanks for staff and children at Spurgeons Academy. Give thanks for supporters who enable children to receive education, nutritious food, loving care, and medical support.

On Monday pray for teachers and children as they adjust to the implementation of a new curriculum and changes to the administration and structure of education in Kenya. Pray teachers can access the training they need.

On Tuesday pray for children affected by abuse and violence at home. Pray for sisters *Connie and *Megan, and *Liva and his two siblings, all rescued from violent home environments through the help of Spurgeons staff.

On Wednesday pray for children directly or indirectly affected by HIV/AIDS. Pray for *Charity and her cousin, who has HIV/AIDS, and give thanks that both girls can attend Spurgeons. Pray for Charity’s mother, the sole provider for her extended family.

On Thursday pray for healing and strength for two girls with sickle-cell anaemia who required repeated hospital admissions. Give thanks that our project provides healthcare, education and welfare and gives hope to desperate children.

On Friday give thanks for the consistently good results achieved at the school and for the teachers and children who work hard to make this happen. Pray children have opportunities to continue their education at a higher level.

On Saturday pray for wisdom and inspiration for the team at Spurgeons, pray for blessing as they seek to support people living in extreme poverty with little opportunity for employment and limited access to basic necessities.
