Sunday 1st – Saturday 7th: This week we pray for our Harvest Appeal and for our project at Houtberg Children’s Home in Chipinge, Zimbabwe. We also pray for our response to the recent communications survey.
On Sunday give thanks for the abundance of food available in this country. Give thanks for the emergency relief we provided in the aftermath of Cyclone Idai. Pray for countries still devastated by the damaging effects of the cyclone.
On Monday pray for a generous response to our Harvest Appeal for Zimbabwe. Pray that we receive enough funds to feed the children now and for land to be prepared and planted with appropriate and sufficient seeds*.
On Tuesday pray that replanting is successful and weather favourable and that there is a great harvest to support the vulnerable children, orphaned and abandoned, who rely on the care of adults at our home.
On Wednesday pray for families in the area who struggle to survive having lost buildings and infrastructure in the cyclone, and without their farms, without an income, relying on buying food in an environment of escalating prices.
On Thursday give thanks and pray for the team at Houtberg Childcare Centre. Pray for blessing and encouragement for Pastor Mishack and Lydia and their family as they work to ensure the safety and good health of the children in their care.
On Friday pray for the children. Pray for sufficient food and clean water, pray for a period of good health and for protection from diseases which are rife in areas recovering from environmental disasters.
On Saturday pray for the UK team analysing the results of our recent supporters’ communications survey. Pray for clarity and inspiration as they seek to provide quality effective, timely and relevant communication materials in all types of media.
Sunday 8th – Saturday 14th: This week we remember International Literacy Day on 8th September and pray for educational activities in our projects.
On Sunday International Literacy Day, pray governments will respond to this year’s theme ‘Literacy and Multilingualism’. Pray for an international effort to improve lives and enable greater inclusion in multilingual communities by supporting a range of languages in education.
On Monday pray for children with no access to education, and those forced to work to support their families rather than go to school. Pray for children whose first language is not used in their local schools.
On Tuesday pray for accessible quality education for all children. Pray for students enrolled on our teacher training programme in South Sudan, and for the children they teach both now and in the future.
On Wednesday give thanks for the informal schools supported by Global Care in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Lebanon and Ethiopia. Pray for the hundreds of vulnerable children enabled to access education.
On Thursday pray for projects supporting education for children with disability in Albania, Uganda and India. Pray for the 20 children with mobility difficulties we support in Rukungiri, give thanks for those children now enabled to attend school.
On Friday give thanks for schools working with Global Care to improve educational facilities in whole communities. Pray for staff at our partner schools, for perseverance, encouragement, wisdom and vision, and for the resources they need to provide effective services.
On Saturday give thanks for homework clubs in Albania, Syria, India and Guatemala. Pray that with extra support, children from disadvantaged communities can achieve academically alongside their peers.
Sunday 15th – Saturday 21st: This week we pray for our work in Bangladesh, and for our projects in Kenya and Uganda as CEO John White visits both countries. Dorica Kaswa, Operations Officer, joins John for the Uganda Annual Conference in Soroti, North Eastern Uganda.
On Sunday give thanks for Joshe and the team at Love Your Neighbour (LYN) providing education and welfare support to desperately poor children and families. Pray for their initiatives to promote self-sufficiency.
On Monday pray for the LYN team as they explore alternative long-term solutions to enable orphaned and abandoned children to be cared for within family environments.
On Tuesday pray for John as he leaves for Kenya. Pray for safe and straightforward travel, for good health and for a productive and encouraging trip. Pray for wisdom as he prepares for meetings in both Kenya and Uganda.
On Wednesday John visits Spurgeons Academy in Kibera. Give thanks for Kenyanito and the local team, pray they are blessed by John’s visit. Pray for the children, many of whom come from violent homes or families living with HIV/AIDS.
On Thursday pray for wisdom and discernment for John and the Spurgeons Board as they meet today. Pray for constructive discussions and clarity of vision for the project.
On Friday pray for blessing on John’s final meeting with Kenyanito. Pray for safe travel as John flies to Entebbe, and for Dorica who also flies to Uganda today.
On Saturday pray for the local teams in Rukungiri, Kampala and Soroti as they prepare for the conference and start the long road journey to Soroti. Pray for John and Dorica as they finalise preparations for leading discussions and training.
Sunday 22nd – Monday 30th: This week we continue to pray for the conference and our work in Uganda, and we pray for our projects in Myanmar.
On Sunday give thanks for 36 years of work in Uganda and for the hundreds of vulnerable children and families lifted out of poverty through Global Care and our generous supporters.
On Monday give thanks for the unique programmes at each of our Uganda centres. Pray the teams will be encouraged by local branch reports and pray for wisdom as they review new projects.
On Tuesday pray for our sponsorship programme. Give thanks for children enabled to access education, and for local schools partnerships which ensure children learn in safe, permanent buildings, have access to good toilets (latrines), and promote sustainable solutions for feeding children.
On Wednesday give thanks for our expanding work with children with disability and pray for the Ark day care centre in Soroti, the Playscheme in Abeko and our research project helping children with mobility difficulties access education in Rukungiri.
On Thursday pray for wisdom and inspiration during discussions about vocational training programmes for young people in all our centres. Pray travel is without incident as the UK and local teams return to Kampala.
On Friday pray for John’s meeting today with the Auditor and Lawyer and pray for John & Dorica as they reflect on all their meetings and discussions and begin their journey back to the UK.
On Saturday give thanks and pray for our partner DS, coordinating Global Care support for education initiatives in Karenni state and working to help improve nutrition, welfare and healthcare. Pray for vision for the work, and for his safety.
On Sunday pray for our partner Joshua and his family and the local team providing care and education for very vulnerable children at Grace Children’s Home in Yangon, Myanmar. Pray for safety, good health and for blessing and encouragement.
On Monday pray for children from minority states living at our home in Yangon. Pray for an end to their persecution, underinvestment and neglect. Pray they find hope and self-worth through the loving care of our partners.
