I want to help

“I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer. Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes”  Psalm 17: 6-7

Friday 1st – Saturday 9th: This week we pray for changes in our UK office and for our partners Community Concern, and our work in Sri Lanka at Morning Star Care Centre (MSCC) and Heavena refuge. We pray for volunteers Tom & Barbara Heyes travelling to Uganda for a 2-week trip.

On Friday pray for Jordan, our new Donor Development Officer who started work in our Coventry Office last month. Pray for a smooth orientation and pray for the office team as they adapt to changes in personnel and roles.

On Saturday pray for all the teams working at our Coventry Office. Pray staff will be blessed in their work supporting vulnerable children and pray for strength and enthusiasm as they support overseas partners working in challenging environments.

On Sunday give thanks for the Community Concern team. Pray for strength, safety and good health, and for continued wisdom, inspiration and encouragement as they go about their work.

On Monday pray for children attending MSCC, living in rudimentary homes without access to basic necessities. Pray for the health and safety of children at risk from abuse and neglect. Pray that through counselling children gain   self-worth and hope.

On Tuesday pray for the local team’s work with parents and caregivers. Pray for a greater understanding of the value of education and pray children are encouraged to attend school by their families.

On Wednesday pray for the health and safety of the field worker who visits families at home. Pray for wisdom and encouragement as she encounters situations such as drug and alcohol abuse, physical and sexual abuse, child marriage and child labour.

On Thursday pray for Heavena, and for women and children supported after being abused, homeless or trafficked. Pray for peace and restoration for children receiving psychological support and pray they learn to live without fear and understand their own value.

On Friday Tom and Barbara arrive in Uganda and begin their journey to Soroti today. Pray for safe travel and good health throughout their trip and for wisdom and insight as they meet local teams.

On Saturday give thanks and pray for our programmes supporting children with disabilities in Soroti. Pray for inspiration and blessing for local staff, and for children and their families, as they meet the UK visitors throughout the coming week.

Sunday 10th – Saturday 16th: This week we reflect on Remembrance Sunday, pray for our work at Global Care Centres in Patripul on the outskirts of Mumbai, India, and pray for our project in Syria as we start our Christmas Appeal.

On Remembrance Sunday we remember those who have died in armed conflict around the world and pray for international efforts to bring peace in many troubled lands.

On Monday pray for an end to community discrimination under the caste system in India. Pray that Dalit families will not be denied access to clean water in their local community and pray for improved sanitation services in Patripul.

On Tuesday pray for the team providing informal education to Dalit children at the two Global Care Centres in Patripul. Pray for their safety and health, pray they will be blessed in this challenging environment.

On Wednesday pray for an end to the abuse and discrimination suffered by Dalit children attending government schools. Pray for our local staff in their advocacy work to ensure Dalit children are treated with respect and justice in schools.

On Thursday pray for Dalit families whose lives of poverty and exploitation leave them without hope for the future. Pray more children will receive education and be spared a life of begging, or dangerous and dirty manual work.

On Friday pray for our Syrian partners, House of Hope, providing School Clubs for vulnerable children living in Al Mleha, a suburb of Damascus which was on the frontline of fighting for many years.

On Saturday pray for a generous response to our Christmas Appeal, raising funds for the School Clubs. Gifts to our appeal donated via the Big Give website from 3rd -10th December will be matched, £1 for £1, up to £20,000.*

Sunday 17th – Saturday 23rd: This week we continue to pray for Tom and Barbara in Uganda and for our partners and projects in Lebanon and Syria as CEO John White visits Lebanon with two volunteers.

On Sunday Tom and Barbara travel to Rukungiri in South West Uganda. Pray for the local team who will be discussing and reviewing our initiative enabling children with disability to access education. Pray families in the programme are blessed by their visitors.

On Monday pray for John and the team travelling to Beirut. Pray for good health and safe travel throughout their trip. Pray for God’s insight and vision as they meet local Lebanese and Syrian teams this week.

On Tuesday pray for our work with Syrian refugees at informal Shack Schools in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. As the UK team meet our Lebanese partners and visit the schools, pray they will be an encouragement to the children.

On Wednesday the House of Hope team travel from Damascus to Lebanon to meet with the UK team. Pray their meeting will be a time of inspiration and blessing and pray for wisdom and insight as they discuss the project together.

On Thursday pray children attending School Clubs receive the support they need to achieve their full potential at government schools. Pray for emotional and physical healing from the traumas of war. Pray all children returning to Syria have access to education.

On Friday pray for John and the team as they fly home. Pray for encouragement and vision as they reflect on their visit. Give thanks for John’s family and their tireless support of Global Care.

On Saturday pray for international efforts to help returning Syrian refugees. Pray for children traumatised by their experiences, including the loss of parents and other relatives in the fighting, and now living in poverty-stricken settings.

Sunday 24th – Saturday 30th: This week we remember the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25th and the Global Care Day of Prayer on 27th.

On Sunday pray for an end to violence and injustice against women and girls in all our overseas projects. Pray for our work with women’s groups in Albania, Sri Lanka and India, pray the women will be encouraged and empowered.

On Monday the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, pray for a brighter future and a world free from violence against women and girls. Pray for Tom and Barbara as they fly home and reflect on their trip.

On Tuesday pray for women and girls fleeing violence in Guatemala City and give thanks for our Protection Home run by SKD Guatemala. Pray for wisdom and compassion as they seek to support families in crisis situations.

On Wednesday, Global Care’s Day of Prayer**, pray for us as we commit our work afresh to God, seeking His wisdom, provision and guidance. Join with us as we call on God’s mercy for our projects worldwide.

On Thursday give thanks for our prayer partners who faithfully pray with us every day of the year. Pray for our work to recruit more prayer partners and pray for more people to be prompted to receive our monthly prayer diary.

On Friday give thanks for our overseas partners in Africa. Pray for wisdom for our partners in North Africa, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. Pray for blessing on existing projects and for discernment for the development of new programmes.

On Saturday give thanks for our overseas partners in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Albania, Cambodia, Lebanon, Syria and Myanmar. Pray for blessing on all their work and pray for wisdom and discernment for new programme proposals.
